I want Carl to have a positive lasting impact so it would suck if Rick died because of his newfound trust in people as it would tie back to Carl's dying wishes for his father. It's certainly possible, though. I hope Rick has a lot of ownership in however he exits the show.

I'm thinking they let someone or maybe even a small group in that they shouldn't have. This person or group did horrific things, resulting in the X brands we saw on the backs of Michonne and Daryl. This is why Michonne was so wary of letting Magna's group in as it reminded her of the people she shouldn't have let in before. I think Maggie partly left Hilltop with her child because she didn't want to risk him being endangered by people like this and she no longer trusted the judgement of community leaders like Michonne. There is still a lot left unexplained with this idea but it fills in some of the holes. Maybe the people Michonne let in that she shouldn't have will somehow end up connecting to the Whisperers?

I enjoyed seeing Luke try to find his role with the new group. While the others in Magna's group had their own skills, he wanted to contribute and let others know he can help, but didn't know how. I just hope viewers get to see more of him...

Standout character for me was Negan. Yeah a good chunk of the episode was about him, but I feel like this is a major step in his rehabilitation. While he doesn’t deserve forgiveness, He’s not as evil as he once was.

With Negan now headed back to Alexandria, do you all think he will be thrown back into jail or will he be given some freedom?

I think he'll initially be put back in a cell, but will earn his freedom through helping out with the threat of the Whisperers.

The Negan-Judith relationship is the most interesting to me of any relationship on the show right now. I can't wait to see more scenes between them.

With Jesus now dead, the Hilltop is experiencing a bit of a leadership shakeup. Michonne proposed that Daryl lead alongside Tara. Who do you think should be in charge?

I think Tara has it under control. I wasn't sure why Daryl needed to help her lead, but I do see his value in helping to het answers from Lydia.

Tara is a reliable, long-term leader. Daryl is good for the present conflict, but not as a long-term leader.

I agree. And it looks like the Hilltop residents are already showing support for Tara as the leader anyway.

I like your point Matthew! Tara has been working beside Jesus in running the Hilltop for quite some time now and really seems to understand what it takes to lead. Daryl is great at handling conflicts such as this, so it makes sense for him to assist until this crisis is over. He’s never been the traditional leader-type.

I've been saying that Tara was leading long before Jesus died. She was the proxy leader while he remained largely the face of the leadership at Hilltop. She was the one out there on the frontlines talking to people.

I agree, Sarabeth! Tara is definitely a people person and really seems like the perfect fit to deal with the Hilltop residents one on one. Even though Jesus may have been the elected official, Tara was leading in pretty much every sense.

With so many of the original characters now gone, Tara is actually one of the longer-running characters on the show. She has the experience and smarts to have earned this position.

Hello everyone! Last night’s episode of The Walking Dead jumped way back to the start of the apocalypse to provide backstory for Lydia and her mother Alpha. What did you think about how the flashbacks were handled? What surprised you most about their origin story?

Instead of a bottle episode it really linked the present to the past.

I like the backstory. We haven’t gotten one before for an antagonist so it was a nice addition.

Although I do think that momma turned into Alpha rather fast. That was early in the ZA and it didn’t take her long to go mad. Guess it was always in her

I can see how it happened though. Everyone else was waiting for a rescue and by day 46 she knew no one was coming so she had to take matters into her own hands.

Hello everyone! The most recent episode ended with a chilling declaration from Alpha outside of the Hilltop. She wants her daughter back. Knowing what we know from the flashbacks, do you think Lydia should be traded back? What will happen if the Hilltop doesn’t listen to Alpha?

I think they need to ensure the safety of their own people first and then worry about Lydia. But one thing is for certain: they don't want to push Alpha too hard.

Definitely trade Lydia back for your own. They won’t hurt her but they’ll definitely hurt Alden and Luke

The problem is that they ARE hurting Lydia...both physically and mentally. Yes, they would have no problem hurting Luck or Alden, but your conscience would weigh on you putting someone back in that position.

What if Daryl lets Lydia choose? It shouldn't be up to Alpha or Daryl and the Hilltop what happens to Lydia. It should be up to Lydia. That's the fair and moral thing to do, but it doesn't necessarily solve the problem of getting Luke and Alden back.

After the connection Daryl forged with Lydia I just can't see him giving her up to an abusive mother so easily.
